Becoming a Salesforce Administrator – Part 1

by | Mar 22, 2022 | Training

Hello!

My name is Kara Huber, and I’m a Salesforce Administrator in training here at Laser Credit Access. I’m 19 years old and I live in Powhatan, which is a small rural town near Midlothian. I grew up with 2 older sisters (one married and the other about to graduate from college) and a younger brother in high school who can do just about anything if he puts his mind to it. My siblings and I all played some sort of sport, if not multiple, and musical instruments. I played basketball ever since I was in 1st grade, then picked up track and volleyball in middle school. During high school, I was fortunate to participate in a program where I could earn my Associate’s Degree in Social Sciences early on, which I completed by the time of my high school graduation. It was difficult at times, but I had some friends and my family who encouraged me to continue to work hard at my education. After graduation, I went to James Madison University in the fall, where I became a full time student.

I was very eager for the college experience and a change of lifestyle, but it actually took a turn for the worse. This first semester as a full time student without a job was a really difficult transition for me because ever since I was in elementary school I always had something other than school to focus on. I’m taking some time off college to figure out what exactly I want to do, and to get a new start…

This is where LASER Credit Access comes in;

Mike Dunleavey, President and Founder of LASER Credit, asked me if I had any plans of going back to James Madison University, which I explained to him how I wasn’t sure. I’m still not sure, but Mike offered me a great opportunity to give the business world a try as a Salesforce Administrator with LASER Credit Access. It’s been a little over 2 months, and I have just understood my part of the business and what I have been learning. I didn’t even know what Salesforce was before my first week of working here, and I still did not comprehend the concept of the platform until week 2. I have learned so much from Mike, his wife Tracy, and Gino, but I also discovered a lot of tips from Trailhead training modules. I’ve even taught Mike some features on Salesforce he’s never known how to create before! In as little as two months training in a field that I have no experience in, I have learned so much about Salesforce and the business world.

This is Part 1 of a short series of posts detailing my Journey on becoming a Salesforce Administrator, and can serve as a helpful guide for anyone seeking this career path!
